Fermanagh Herald Wartime Christmas

Now titled the Fermanagh Herald and Leitrim and Monaghan News

Christmas was a busy time for advertisers selling war-time gifts, with useful presents the order of the day. Between ads for Air raid precautions and Christmas Dances you can find on sale hats, caps and high class walking out boots, bicycles and portraits.

Ulster Herald First Printed

The paper was well received and in its second edition printed the following "the unanimous chorus of approval with which our first issue was everywhere received, has found echo in the columns of many of our contemporaries, who have extended to us a warm and generous welcome to the ranks of Irish journalism"

The Linotype room

For half a century the Linotype room was the hub of the weekly newspaper. Pictured here are Tony Cunningham and Phil McGovern were among the setters.
