The Aviary
In a very short space of time, The Aviary bar and restaurant has made a huge impression on Omagh town centre. The buzz created by The Aviary’s opening in Old Market Place has helped to enliven a previously quiet area.
Week on week, the venue, which specialises in live music, is getting busier and busier. Mid-week lunches and dinners are increasing and nights like pub quizzes are at full capacity.
The owners plan to introduce new events to the schedule, including seasonal activities for Halloween and Christmas.
Sliced Meals
The idea behind Sliced stemmed from owner Laura Murphy always working long hours and resorting to buying takeaway meals. She couldn’t find a product on the market with no additives or preservatives when aiming to eat healthily. She began in a kitchen with six frying pans and a handful of friends. In the first 24 hours, over 100 meals were sold in one shop.
During lockdown, the business grew bigger and bigger on a weekly basis. It is now selling over 10,000 units per week, both retail and online.
MDL Transport Logistics
Despite the difficult trading conditions in recent years caused by Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic, MDL Transport Logistics has thrived since being set up by David O’Reilly two years ago.
David showed grit and determination in opening his freight forwarding business at such a time, but felt it was the right time to just go for it. He worked seven days a week initially and his customers know he is contactable 24 hours a day.
The ambitious owner has set a goal for £5 million turnover within the next year.
