Sometimes we just have to pick ourselves up

There will be moments in your life when you lose a bit of confidence; doubt yourself or don’t have the will power to keep going.
That’s OK; it happens to us all. What’s not OK is when you let the knock keep you down.
When something does ‘knock you for six’, then at times it’s not that easy just to pick yourself up or not to worry about it. Even if these are the things that everyone else around you is telling you to do.
Here are a few practical tips that you can carry out to help pick you back up when you have taken a little stumble in life.
Find someone who will listen
‘Listen’ is the key word here. At times you just want people to know how you feel without even looking for an answer. This is why it’s good to talk to someone who you know will listen. A true friend or family member will also tell you what you need to hear rather than what you want to hear.
Take action
If there is some area in your life that has knocked your confidence then take action and don’t shy away. Is it something that you can practice more of, seek guidance on, or increase your knowledge of?  You can build your confidence by taking action and not letting a poor experience keep you down.
Meditate
Clear your mind with daily meditation. Even if it’s just for a few minutes, meditation gives you the chance to slow down and do nothing. It may give you a better sense of awareness of who you are and just how awesome you are.
Exercise
Nothing clears the mind like some exercise. If you are doubting yourself or need to lift your spirits then go and get a sweat on.  Exercise releases your happy hormones – endorphins. This helps put you in a better place to give you the confidence that was always inside you.
Get straight back up
Once you take a knock to your confidence the next time there is an opportunity to amend it again, go for it. The longer you leave it, the harder it will be and the more time you will spend over-thinking the mistakes you made.
Take time away
If there isn’t an opportunity to try something again, then maybe it’s a perfect time to take a break. This isn’t the same as trying to hide or run away from your lack of belief.  Maybe you have a few things going on in your life and it was the accumulation of everything rather than one thing that was the tipping point for your dip in confidence.  Have a break, spend time with family and friends and come back even better and stronger than before.
Learn form it
We all make mistakes. It’s part of our human nature but there is always a lesson to learn. Take the positives form the situation.  At least you know what didn’t work for you or others at that moment. Maybe you have to change something or try it again at a different time in the future. But as long as you learn for it then it will make it a hell of a lot easier to pick yourself back up.
