Helping children stay fit and healthy in Loughmacrory

A YOUNG Loughmacrory woman is playing her part in keeping local schoolchildren fit and healthy as the winter approaches.

‘PE with Joe Wicks’ became an online sensation during lockdown, and now Clare Conway has set up a similar fitness plan for primary school children in the Mid-Tyrone area.

Clare’s ‘Fitness Fundraiser for Kids’ scheme takes place every Tuesday afternoon, with all money donated to the Termonmaguirc Cancer Patients Comfort Fund.

Sessions are held at the Loughmacrory onewall courts, each one lasting for 45 minutes.

Clare hopes that attendees will benefit from getting fitter while having fun at the same time.

“I thought this would be a good service to provide after school, especially if the children aren’t doing PE,” she explained.

“It’s good for their physical and mental health, because it also helps them engage with friends socially as well.”

Clare added, “I want to help improve agility, balance and co-ordination. The one-wall courts are ideally suited to this type of activity and the children have been really enjoying it so far. This will also support the Termonmaguirc Cancer Patients Comfort, which does so much good work in this area.”

• The sessions are due to run until October 13 and places are still available. You can text Clare on 07873209703.
