TYRONE ladies will have an extra week to prepare for their TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship opener. Details of the 2025 fixture structure for the group stages of the competition, that saw Tyrone reach last year’s final, were revealed by the Central Council at the end of last week.
Beaten Ulster finalists Down will be the Red Hands first opponents on June 8th with a Mourne venue yet to be firmed up. Down defeated Tyrone in the recent Ulster semi-final after extra-time at Dungannon leaving Darren McCann’s side kicking their heels for over a month waiting to get back into action.
This will be Down’s second game in the group as they first head to Westmeath this Sunday. That fixture will give Mc Cann and his management team a chance to assess the quality of their upcoming Group Two opponents.
The top two teams in each group will progress to the quarter-finals to be held on Sunday June 29th with the top placed finisher in each group having home advantage at that stage. A draw for the quarter-finals will be conducted following the conclusion of the group stages.
The Red Hands have been busy behind the scenes and several of the current minor squad that lost out in the recent Ulster final have been drafted into a development squad to assist with in house games.
There are still several players on the injured list, notably Emma Jane Gervin and Clara Daly, while both Tori McElroy and Maria Canavan recently opted out of the squad.
