Ex-Linfield player named No 2 at Dungannon

Former Linfield player Tony Gorman has been named the new assistant manager at Dungannon Swifts.

Gorman has been confirmed as Dean Shiels’ number 2 and will be on the sidelines for this evening’s Irish Cup clash at Glenavon.

The Letterkenny man has been involved in management roles at Derry City and Finn Harps in the past and is regarded as one of the best coaches in the game.

As a tenacious midfielder he won every honour in the game under David Jeffrey at Linfield.

As a youth player he played for Mansfield Town before returning to Ireland. He turned out for Waterford Town, Galway United, Finn Harps, Sligo Rovers, Portadown and Coleraine before joining the Blues.

In more recent times the Pro Licence coach has coached a number youth teams and was involved with Letterkenny Rovers.

Dwayne Nelson has been named goalkeeping coach while Terry Fitzpatrick remains part of Swifts backroom team
