Western Trust: One hospital visit per day allowed in latest restriction easing

VISITING rules have been eased at Western Trust hospitals to allow patients to have one visitor per day.

The move, which takes effect from midnight, marks the next step in the easing of restrictions at the Trusts hospitals which banned visiting outright at the height of the Omicron wave.

A spokesperson for the Trust said, “The Trust treats the safety of our patients, staff and everyone attending our facilities with the utmost importance and therefore strongly recommends that anyone attending any of our facilities to visit a loved one, to take a lateral flow test immediately prior to attending.

“This will help to reduce the risk for all patients. All infection and prevention control measures MUST be adhered to when visiting and this includes wearing a facemask properly which covers your nose and mouth at all times, in addition to proper hand washing and adhering to social distancing guidelines.”

Patients will be allowed to have one visitor (from two nominees) visit for one hour every day under the new rules.

The Trust also reminded that anyone who has symptoms of Covid or has been identified as a close contact not to visit.

Visiting rules are set to be reviewed once again on February 7.
