Tyrone woman thanks doctors after ‘life-changing’ foot surgery

A GREENCASTLE woman, who has successfully recovered from two major foot operations earlier this year, has thanked doctors from Altnagelvin Hospital for ‘giving me back my life’.

On a recent check-up appointment at the Derry hospital, Nuala Glass felt compelled to express her gratitude to all those who cared for her while she received the life-changing orthopaedic surgery.

Addressing all those who helped her during this time, she said, “I am so thankful to have been placed in the trusted hands of consultant orthopaedic surgeon, Mr Dessie Gibson and his team.

“Everyone who I came in to contact with has treated me with the utmost respect and dignity.

“To all of the surgical and day case teams, fracture clinic, admin and support teams thank you for all your care and support.”

Nuala said she owed her life to Mr Gibson.

“He is a fantastic consultant and incredibly down-to-earth. I can’t thank him and his team enough for giving me my life back.

“I am so lucky to have had both my surgeries done within the year, both as a day case. I am no longer in pain or discomfort and I am back driving and being a carer to my husband.”

She added, “Our health and social care staff do not get enough praise and thanks for the first class care they provide!”
