THE director of the Braidwater Group has reported that construction at the Curleyhill housing development in Strabane is making “excellent progress,” following a site visit by elected representatives.
West Tyrone MLAs Daniel McCrossan, Maolíosa McHugh, and Tom Buchanan were given a guided tour of the site, which is located on the former Convent Grammar School grounds on Curleyhill Road. The visit included a briefing from Woven Housing Association Chief Executive Alan McKeown on the current status of the development.
Speaking after the visit, Vincent Bradley, development director at Braidwater , reaffirmed the company’s community-focused ethos.
“Our work is shaped by a strong commitment to the communities we serve, which is why maintaining open communication with local representatives and keeping residents informed is central to our approach. Thanks to the dedication of our team and close partnership with Woven, we’re confident the development will be delivered to the highest standards and especially looking forward to welcoming the first families in 2026,” he said.
The Curleyhill project is a joint initiative between Woven Housing Association and BW Affordable Housing, a subsidiary of the Braidwater Group. The 78-home development will include a mix of social and affordable housing, alongside landscaped areas, access roads, and other key infrastructure.
Once completed, the scheme is expected to play a vital role in addressing the need for high-quality housing in the Strabane area.
West Tyrone Sinn Féin MLA Maolíosa McHugh expressed his enthusiasm for the project.
“I was delighted to be invited to the ongoing Curleyhill development, where 78 new homes are being built… The need for social housing in this area is well documented, and this development will go a long way in providing it,” he said. SDLP MLA Daniel McCrossan also welcomed the initiative, describing it as “welcome for the local parish.”
