TWO upcoming charity events amidst the rolling Aghyaran hills and pastures have been organised to remember the vibrant life of local lady, Gemma McHale.
Next Friday (April 26), folks from Tyrone and beyond are being encouraged to dust off their running gear and tie up their trainers to take part in a very special Memorial 5k walk/run in Gemma’s memory.
Taking place at Agyharan Centre, the race will get underway at 7.30pm sharp, and refreshments will be served upon completion.
Registration will run from 5.30pm.
Meanwhile, a breathtaking charity cycle in honour of Gemma will take place on May 5. The 35-mile cycle (56k) race will take place on Sunday, May 5, starting from the Agyharan Centre at 10am sharp.
Registration will run from 9am.
Refreshments will be served both before and after the cycle, and excellent spot prizes can be won on the day.
WORTHY CAUSES
Proceeds raised during both the 5k walk/run and the cycle will be going towards counselling in local primary schools, charities that provide support to those affected by Multiple Sclerosis and cancer, and other local charity events.
Forever in the hearts of those who knew her, Gemma was tragically killed in a car accident in May 2012.
In her memory, the McHale family host events like these annually as a way to bring the community together in friendship and exercise, to help raise funds for important local causes, and to keep ‘beautiful angel’ Gemma at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
To date, the family have raised a remarkable £250,000 and counting for local causes.
