“VOLUNTEERING really does change people’s lives…”
Connecting people who want to help with those who need help is the aim of an upcoming volunteer recruitment fair at the Omagh Library tomorrow.
Organised by Omagh Volunteer Centre, the event will take place tomorrow from 10am to 2pm and will feature more than 20 organisations who will be on-hand to promote a wide range of volunteering opportunities locally.
The recruitment fair, which is free of charge, will further highlight the value of volunteering.
Martin Cassidy, volunteer coordinator at Omagh Volunteer Centre, said that volunteering was ‘life-changing’.
“Volunteering really does change people’s lives; both those who volunteer and those who are helped by volunteers,” Martin said.
“It can help you gain new skills, meet new people, test the water for a career change, allow you to give something back and help a cause you really believe in.”
Martin further explained that the recruitment fair is a ‘brilliant way’ to find out about the opportunities that exist and what volunteering might do for you.
“It’s a unique chance to speak directly to so many organisations and make connections that can change lives,” he said.
“Volunteering can be very flexible and fit around other commitments.
“Some roles are regular, others more ad hoc – there really is something for everyone.”
If you are unable to attend the recruitment fair, visitors can also register with the Omagh Volunteer Centre – located at 41c Market St, Omagh BT78 1EH – and apply for specific roles that suit their skills, interests, and availability. Whether you have a few hours to spare or are looking for a regular commitment, there are opportunities to suit everyone.
