WITH the slurry season underway once again, local motorists have been urged to be ‘patient with tractors’ and other farm vehicles on local roads.
From the start of February, farmers have been allowed to spread slurry and manure on their land, and the recent dry, mild conditions have been allowing them to get out to do so. However, this has meant there have been more tractors on local roads, prompting police to call for patience from other road users.
“You may notice the increase of tractors and tankers on the road since the lift of the slurry ban,” said a local police spokesman. “Please be patient with drivers and their machinery, and give them plenty of time and space.”
The spokesman added, “As the grass men say: No farming, no food, no future.”
