MARIE McQuaid, a former businesswoman from Omagh, has been fondly remembered as a caring mother and devoted wife at her Requiem Mass.
The 73-year-old, from Summerfield Court, passed away peacefully at her home on May 21, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of Charlie and cherished mother to Claire (Robbie), Steven (Orla), Lynne (Paddy), and Joanne (Owen).
Rev Eugene Hassan paid tribute to Marie’s devoted life and her ties to the local community, recalling the couple’s printing business on John Street.
“Marie’s life was lived faithfully and generously, marked by love and devotion through many seasons. She was born on February 5, 1953, in the townland of Conneywarren, just outside Omagh
“Charlie recalled how, in 1967, a young Marie met him on a walk home from school – a meeting that would change both their lives.
“Six years later, in 1973, they were married in St Mary’s Church, Killyclogher.
“Their union lasted over 50 years. Marie left her civil service job to dedicate herself fully to raising their four children.
“Her love was steady, and her presence constant.”
Rev Hassan continued: “In 1988, Marie and Charlie embarked on a business venture together – a quiet act of courage and partnership.
“After 20 years, Marie stepped away from the business – not to retire, but to begin a new chapter caring for her grandchildren, to whom she was deeply devoted.
“Marie lived her life in faith, and now that faith is fulfilled. Her journey has led her to the place prepared for her.”
Following the Mass, Marie was laid to rest in Drumragh Cemetery.
