POPULAR former teacher, Frank Loughran ‘changed the lives’ of three people following his death through organ donation, his funeral was told.
Mr Loughran, who was also chairman of Omagh Credit Union and a board member of Drumragh GAA, died peacefully at The Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast, surrounded by his loving family, last week.
He was laid to rest at the Sacred Heart Church on Friday before burial at St Mary’s Cemetery Drumragh.
Reverend Eugene Hasson, speaking at the Requiem Mass, celebrated Mr Loughran’s profound impact on education, finance, and sports.
“Frank was a loved husband, father, grandfather and teacher who deeply touched many students and people who knew him during his time here.
“His love for knowledge and education will have a lasting legacy as for the students he taught will pass on stories of the kind teacher.”
Making reference to the Omagh man’s time as chairman of the local Credit Union, Rev Hasson said, “He believed in financial solidarity and aimed to help others achieve their dreams through the credit union.
“Frank was also the chairman of Drumragh GAA for a year, and he admitted he knew very little about football, he understood his role of developing character, discipline and the importance of team building.”
Rev Hasson continued, “His time with the club showed his valued importance of culture within the community. These all reflect the rich tapestry of Frank’s life of education, finance and sport which has painted a mosaic of contribution in the hearts of all who knew him.”
