There were a ‘lorra lorra’ laughs at Blind Date

THERE were chuckles aplenty at the 2000 Centre in Newtownstewart on Saturday night as ‘80s TV favourite Blind Date was recreated for a local audience.

The event, organised by the Newtownstewart Community Forum, starred Demi Détourné as the iconic Cilla Black and Eddie B as the ubiquitous Graham.

Organiser Amanda McConomy was delighted the evening was such a success.

“It was so well set up – from the choreography to the hosts, everyone was flabbergasted at how it turned out.

“The show’s focal points were comedy and gender mainly,” said Amanda. “It had such a great response and I want to thank everyone for coming, and we appreciate everything everyone did.”

The event was organised with the needs of the Newtownstewart community in mind. “Any money made on the night goes straight back into the Newtownstewart community, and people in need in our locality.

“It was a brilliant success and a highlight for me personally was the performance of host Demi DéTourné who kept the whole thing going and the crowd enjoyed it greatly.

“I would also like to thank the four young people that helped out on the night. They were very respectful.”
