AFTER writing and recording music for the past 20 years, local singer-songwriter, Rois Kelly has finally decided to release a single.
‘The Message,’ debuting this week on all the usual download platforms, is dedicated to a great friend of Rois’s, the late RJ Catterson.
“I have been recording music for 20 years now and I have been recording and logging it but I have never put it out there. I’s never done an actual single,” Rois admitted.
However, like many other people when the covid pandemic hit and she was forced to close her Much Ado Stage School in Castlederg, Rois refocused on her favourite pastime, in this case, music.
“Family and friends have always loved my music and they always asked me why I wasn’t doing more. And then lockdown happened,” Rois explained.
“It just all came about because I had the time to do it.
“I was lucky enough to have someone of Garth’s (Lowry) quality to help me record the song and it has gone down really well and I’ve had so much positive feedback.
“Much Ado has been so busy for the past ten years and family life and work took over. I’m 38 now but I feel as though I’m ready to do this. I feel I have the experience to really push on with it.”
Currently working on her new single called, ‘Low’, Rois also admitted that she would like to advance a career in music.
“If an opportunity came to pursue it further, I would absolutely take it,” she said. “I would eventually like to do an album but at the minute it’s about getting a fanbase, people who’ll listen in and like your music. But we’ll see how it goes.”
* ‘The Message’ is currently available on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Music and the video is accessible on Youtube. All proceeds are being donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
