Clonoe is the place to be this weekend for music, dancing and craic, as the village prepares to welcome one of Tyrone’s most famous exports, The Whistlin’ Donkeys.
Gearing up to play at the Marquee at Clonoe Community Centre on Saturday, July 8, the Donkeys are arguably one of the biggest Irish folk groups in the world right now, having made quite the name for themselves over the years, with a hectic touring schedule that has seen them performing extensively, and achieving millions of streams on numerous social media platforms.
The ‘Donkeys’ first played in Clonoe back in 2017, and have since performed to millions of adoring fans worldwide, as well as having appearing on RTÉ’s iconic ‘The Late Late Show’.
Support on the evening will come from local talent, James McKee and Pierce Whitehouse, who have both been making waves on the local pub scene in recent years with foot-stomping, fist-pumping setlists, and are sure to get the crowd nicely warmed up ahead of the evenings headlining act.
Pierce Whitehouse is from Coalisland, and is looking forward to performing on his home turf.
“I’m a big fan of the Whistlin’ Donkeys music,” he told the Tyrone Herald. “They’re the biggest band on a scene that I love, and to be playing with them is a serious confidence booster. Let’s hope they get a listen to, and enjoy, my music too.”
On the night, there will also be a raffle, barbecue and drinks promotions.
So, if you’re feeling lucky, hungry, thirsty, or just fancy a dance, don’t miss out on this spectacular evening as some of the countries finest talent takes to the stage.
Doors open at 6pm, with Pierce Whitehouse taking to the stage at 6.30pm, followed by James McKee at 7.30pm, while The Whistlin’ Donkeys bring the night in from 9pm.
