This past few weeks we have seen an increase in the number of classes we are running for our CORE Kids programme.
Normally we would be in schools everyday providing kids with the opportunity to be physically active but instead we had to set up a lot more of our own classes outside of school.
This took a bit of time to get going which meant we didn’t get too many opportunities to coach during September.
Now that I am back out coaching children, I realise how much I love and have such a huge passion for it.
There are a number of reason why I love coaching kids.
One of the biggest is that you get to inspire them to be awesome.
Our sessions are not built around competition.
Instead, our ethos is to deliver positive experiences.
Support
We want children to explore movement, we want to guide them – not tell them – what they have to do. When they fail at doing something we provide support and encouragement to help keep them going. Even when they see or sense any small progress the look of achievement on their face is amazing. I love what I do because I get children to fall in love with physical activity and provide them with the opportunity to lead a happy, healthy and active lifestyle.
Passion
I have taken this passion and turned it into a business that helps me live the life I want. The sense of pride I feel when I see a happy child, hear a positive passing comment from a parent or watch one of our coaches doing something they love, is something I’m very grateful for.
I meet some adults on the street who were once the kids I coached and through coaching I have built a lifelong connection with them as a person, not just as an athlete.
Opportunity
Do you know what you love to do? Are you giving yourself the opportunity to do it?
This could be anything from reading a book, playing sport or getting paid every day for doing something that you love.
Should we all not be aiming towards doing something we love to do every day?
Yes, we need money to pay bills and live a life, but if you are just making money and merely surviving then maybe it’s time you made a change.
If we get stuck in a habit of doing things we don’t love, then what message are we sending to ourselves and others.
You would normally hear things like ‘just keep going’, ‘this is what you have to do’, ‘things might change’. Well maybe it’s time you didn’t keep doing the same thing you hate day after day; it’s not what you were put on this planet to do.
If you don’t make a change in your mind and take action then nothing will change.
Think of one thing you love to do that will make you happy and a better person. Most of us love chocolate and pizza but if I ate that every day it wouldn’t make me happy or a better person in the long run.
Commitment
Find something that improves your life and those closest to you.
Become more active, read and write more, sit in silence, schedule in a weekly or monthly adventure, go on a spa day, book a room in a fancy hotel or dinner at a fancy restaurant.
Figure out what it is that you love and make a commitment this week to doing it.
I know I love coaching and inspiring others.
