Sandwiches are a staple for so many people when it comes to a packed lunch. They can are tasty and versatile and can literally be stuffed with everything and anything that happens to take your fancy.
However, there is no denying that sandwiches can sometimes become a bit dull. But a sandwich doesn’t have to be floppy lifeless bread with a slice of cheese, dry and boring. You can spruce up your sandwiches with amazing and tasty fillings and by also switching your bread up. Use tiger bread, cranberry bread or a croissant.
Here are some of our favourite super sandwiches, why not give them a try and spruce up your lunch box this week.
Mediterranean Ham and Cheese
Use a lovely flavoursome bread, such as a croissant or multi-grain bread and spread with a little bit of butter. Then stuff with the following fillings for a delicious Mediterranean lunch, this is also delicious if heated a little.
- Parma Ham or Prosciutto
- Basil Pesto
- Feta Cheese
- Green Olives
Chicken and Avocado
Use a tortilla wrap, or thickly cut wholemeal bread and create a simple and subtle tasting lunch that is packed with both flavour and nutrients.
- Roast Chicken Breast (mix with a little mayo)
- Sliced avocado (mashed will get a bit messy)
- Rocket Leaves
- Sun-dried Tomato or Cherry Tomato
- Salt and Pepper to taste.
Bagels
Bagels are tasty and super filling and versatile, they can literally be filled with anything and they’re guaranteed to make a delicious lunch.
Here are a few of our favourite bagel fillings.
- Crispy Bacon and Cream Cheese. (Also excellent with smoked salmon)
- Mozzarella and Tomato with rocket and salt & pepper
- Avocado and Boiled egg
- Sliced Turkey and Ceaser dressing with crispy lettuce.
