Pasta All’Amatriciana

We’ve been bringing you healthy lunches and snacks for weeks, encouraging you to do the best for your body and be as healthy as possible. Well down with that sort of thing we say today! Sometimes we just need comfort food! So bring on the pasta!

This is a traditional Roman pasta dish and it really is delicious. It’s cheap and easy to make and it tastes absolutely incredible.

You Will Need

  1. 1 Packet of dried spaghetti
  2. 1 red onion
  3. 1 white onion
  4. 3 cloves of garlic
  5. 1 packet of smoked bacon lardons
  6. 50g of grates parmesan (more if you prefer)
  7. 1 glass of red wine
  8. Lloyd Grossman Tomato & Chilli Sauce

Method

  1. Put the pasta on to boil.
  2. Chop the onions and garlic and fry them in a little olive oil.
  3. Season with a little Salt and Pepper
  4. Add the bacon lardons
  5. Add the red wine and simmer gently until all the flavours have combined.
  6. Pour in the Lloyd Grossman sauce, you can use tinned tomatoes if you prefer but the sauce has more flavour.
  7. Once your sauce is simmering, add the parmesan. Keep a little to sprinkle on the top.
  8. Drain the pasta
  9. Mix the sauce and pasta together and allow to sit on a low heat for everything to come together.
  10. Serve with a sprinkle of parmesan.

This dish keeps in the fridge in an airtight container for around 4-5 days. So portion it up and heat it as your wish. It will brithen your day at work, we promise.
