Enjoying some ‘appy’ juice in Castlecaulfield

THE creative juices were flowing as Castlecaulfield Horticultural Society held their apple pressing event in the beautiful Parkanaur Community Walled Garden.

A very enjoyable and interesting evening was had by the large number of adults and children in attendance, who were all interested to see the process of how juice is pressed from the apples.

On hand throughout the appletastic festivities was a cup of tea and light refreshments – and at the end, the grapes grown in the walled garden were pressed and everyone had a taste of the juice.

Society chairs, Judith Kelly and Noel Calvert, said that those involved, of all ages, enjoyed the special day of sunshine, laughter, friends and apples.

“The apple-pressing event was a fabulous afternoon with glorious sunshine in the Parkanaur Community Walled Garden,” they said. “We wish to extend our thanks to Marcus, Tommy and Danny for bringing along the apple press and keeping us all entertained.

“It was also great to be joined by Conor and Sam from Social Farms and Gardens Northern Ireland and Patrick and Philip from Strathroy Community Garden & Shed.”
