‘The Sweet Spot’ just got even sweeter!

A modern ice-cream parlour featuring ice-cream of all swirling colours and flavours now takes pride of place at the front of ‘The Sweet Spot’ in Omagh, which is once again open for business.

Established at Christmastime 2011, the family-owned shop – which is the very definition of ‘sugar and spice and everything nice’! – reopened its doors to the sweet-toothed public for the first time yesterday (Wednesday) after undergoing major renovations and improvements inside. However, co-owners Conor Daly and mum, Una Daly were keen to point out that, despite the aesthetic improvements, the shop still honours its traditional olden-day feel.

Traipse towards the back of the shop, they say, and you will be filled with sentiments of nostalgia as the shelves are decorated with traditional glass jars like in bygone days, and the old-time favourites of raspberry ruffles, strawberry sherbets and caramels are ready and waiting to be measured by the quarter.

Other delights include Haribo sweets; bon bons; colourful laces, cinnamon chews, swathes of chocolate… and there is even a ‘sugar-free’ sweets section for diabetic customers. Dairy-free ice-cream is also available.

An upstairs area, where customers can sit and enjoy their ice-cream, sweets, and even a cup of coffee, is also due to open when Covid-19 restrictions lift.

“We can’t wait to see everyone again,” Conor said. “We hope that we can put a smile on people’s faces, and give them treats to enjoy during these uncertain times.
“We’re still the same shop… Just a whole lot better!”

On behalf of The Sweet Spot, Conor has thanked ‘the surrounding shops’ for their support throughout the years; the people who helped renovate the shop to
make it even sweeter; and of course, the regular, loyal customers whom he can’t wait to catch-up with soon. He further thanked his mum, Una – ‘the real boss’, he joked- for all her hard work over the years.

The Sweet Shop is adhering to all social-distancing and hygiene regulations in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
