38 deaths from coronavirus in Tyrone council areas

A TOTAL of 38 people have now died from coronavirus in the three local government districts which cover the county of Tyrone.

Nine of them have been in the Fermanagh and Omagh area, a further 14 in Mid-Ulster and 15 in the Derry and Strabane District Coucil area.

Figures for the number of deaths are broken down by local government district in the latest statistics released by the Department for Health.

They also show that there have been 59 positive cases in the Fermanagh and Omagh District, 110 in Mid-Ulster and 134 in Derry and Strabane.

Details have also been released about the number of people who have been tested for COVID-19. In Fermanagh and Omagh, that figure is 530, it now stands at 634 in Mid-Ulster and 796 in Strabane and Derry.

Out of a population of 1.5 million in the north, there have now been just over 15,000 tests for the coronavirus.

The majority  of deaths have taken place in the Belfast area where there have been 54, while the next highest is in Armagh, Craigavon and Banbridge where 23 people have died.

The number of deaths for Fermanagh and Omagh is the second lowest, with six people now recorded to have died in the Causeway Coast and Glens District.
