THE bail hearing for a former Tyrone priest charged with a child sex offence was today adjourned due to a lack of address.
Father Edward Gallagher (58), from Orchard Park in Lifford, remains on remand after the hearing at Derry Magistrates Court.
He is charged with attempted sexual communication with a child under 16 on dates between April 2 and April 17 this year.
Father Gallagher, who is currently a priest in the Camus, Clonleigh and Leckpatrick parishes in Donegal, previously served as parish priest in Greencastle.
His arrest and charge followed a confrontation by ‘paedophile hunters’ outside a Derry hotel in April, which saw a number of allegations put to him.
Defence counsel Stephen Chapman today asked the court to adjourn the bail application as no suitable address has been found for Fr Gallagher.
A prosecutor advised the court that the full file in the case would not be ready until July 26.
The case will return to Derry Magistrates Court on July 3 for a further review.
