A CARERS Café is taking place in Omagh this June to acknowledge the contribution local carers make in society.
It is being organised by the We Care Project, which provides local carers with support, information and friendship.
Carers are being invited to come together for refreshments and activities. The event, which will take place on Thursday, June 13 in Omagh Community House, also falls during Carers Week, an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and celebrate the contribution they make in our communities.
Diane Wilson, from the We Care Project, said, “The Carers Café has been arranged for Carers Week as a way of recognising the contribution that carers make to their families and the entire community.
“They never seek gratitude and quietly get on with their busy and stressful lives. We want to acknowledge them and raise awareness of the many challenges that they face.”
The We Care Project, which is managed by Focus and funded by The Community Foundation Carers Fund, is open to anyone in a caring role within the Omagh area to improve their general health and wellbeing.
Diane said, “The project aims to provide information on specialist support and provide training and development, as well as the opportunity to meet other carers in a similar position and to build social contacts to help with isolation.”
The group get a schedule of useful activities which will help to enhance their capacity to deal with the many challenges they face as carers.
The Carers Café will be held on June 13 in Omagh Community House, starting at 11am.
Anyone in a caring role that is interested in this networking event and the opportunity to meet other carers can contact Diane on 028 8224 0991.
