MEMBERS of the Cookstown community have paid tribute to a well-known local school teacher who passed away today.
Sister Assumpta KEOHANE (pictured below) of the Convent Of Mercy in Cookstown was remembered as ‘a real lady’ by past pupils who took to social media since her death was announced earlier today.
One tribute read, “Very sad to hear that Sr Assumpta has passed away, I remember her so fondly in my youth at school. So kind and sincere, so motherly and dedicated in all that she did. May her gentle soul rest in god’s heavenly home.”
The Requiem Mass will take place on Monday at 12 noon at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Cookstown, with burial afterwards in Forthill cemetery.
The loss of Sister Assumpta will be deeply felt by her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, Cookstown Sisters Of Mercy, the Sisters of the Northern Province and also her large family circle.
Sr. Assumpta’s remains will repose at Sisters Of Mercy residence, 58 Fairhill Road, Cookstown for a wake today (Saturday) from 5.00pm – 9:00pm and tomorrow from 10:30am – 9:00pm.
