Employee accused of stealing over £24,000 from Omagh bomb survivor

A 47-YEAR-OLD woman has been accused of stealing more than £24,000 from a survivor of the Omagh bomb.

Michelle Bowes, from Old Mountfield Road, Omagh, is charged with stealing cash, amounting to £24,272.05, from her employer, Claire Bowes, between September 2021 and November 2022.

Claire Bowes was just 15 when she was injured and left blinded by shrapnel during the Omagh bomb in 1998.

At Omagh Magistrates Court today (Tuesday), no details surrounding the case were outlined.

The case was listed for a preliminary enquiry, however it was adjourned by a defence barrister who needed time to examine the papers and consult with the defendant.

Proceedings were adjourned until May 28 at Omagh Magistrates Court.
