AN innovative event run by Derrylaughan Kevin Barry’s GAC has proven a big altruistic hit, raising over £10,000 for Motor Neuron Disease (MND) Association.
The club, who have thanked all those who helped generate the seismic sum by supporting their charity crossbar challenge, presented a cheque to MND Association recently/
Representatives from Kevin Barry’s GAC, along with members of the McAliskey family, handed the £10,500 total over to Stephen Thompson from the MND Association NI.
Speaking with the TyroneHerald, a club representative said, “The MND Association is a cause that is very close to our hearts. To say we were overwhelmed from the show of unity from our own club, our fellow clubs and wider community would be an understatement; it was nothing short of amazing and a proud day for us all.”
Explaining how the support enabled them to raise such an impressive amount, they said, “To every single person that supported this event; our amazing donators and businesses, everyone who purchased tickets, donated to the cause, helped with organising and came down to support us on the day, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
“This year, with the help of our players and our great sponsor, Specdrum Engineering, we will wear the charity’s crest with pride to continue to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease and the great work of the MND Association.
“This is what’s truly great about the GAA, we will always come full circle for one another.”
