Investigation into A5 death appeal for witnesses in white van

OFFICERS investigating the fatal road traffic collision which killed local man Caolan Devlin are keen for the drivers of a white van who came on the scene to identify themselves.

Caolan died following a road traffic collision on the A5 Curr Road between Omagh and Ballygawley around 7pm on Tuesday, March 5.

A spokesperson from the Collision Investigation Unit said, “Police investigating a Road Traffic Collision which on A5 Curr Road, Beragh, Omagh on Tuesday March 5 are keen to identify the occupants of a white van who stopped to help.

“The collision which involved a white BMW 320 and a Scania lorry occurred between 7.15pm and 7.20pm. Sadly 30 year old Caolan Devlin the driver of the BMW, died at the scene.

“A white van, with males occupants is believed to have been travelling to Donegal after working in the Dungannon area. It is understood they stopped and provided assistance at the scene and may have information that may assist in the investigation.

“Officers would appeal for the witnesses to contact them at the Collision Investigation Unit at Sprucefield on 101, quoting reference number 1675 05/03/24.”
