No new Covid deaths in past 24 hours

THERE have been no new Covid-19 related deaths in the North in the past 24 hours according to the Department of Health’s latest update.

It is the first day since 18 March – almost 10 weeks ago – that no deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland.

The latest figures released this afternoon by the department state that the total number of people who have died remains the same as Monday’s total of 514 deaths.

In the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council (FODC) area, there are 80 confirmed cases of the virus, with 10 deaths recorded.

In the Derry City and Strabane Council District area (DCSCD) , there has been 20 Covid-19 related deaths and 164 confirmed cases.

In the Mid Ulster Council area, there are 230 confirmed cases with 29 Covid-19 related deaths.

The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 4,637, with 28 new cases from Monday’s total.

Yesterday (Sunday), the Republic of Ireland recorded the first day without a Covid-19 related death since March.
