A FASHION model from Omagh has set his sights on becoming the next Mr British Isles.
Omagh native Elmokhtar Berrabah (22) is set to represent Liverpool in the competition after being shortlisted for the National Final.
The former Drumragh Integrated College and St Mary’s Primary School student will compete in the competition during the weekend of November 13.
Since moving to Liverpool, Elmokhtar has been working as a part time model, and has worked with fashion brand BoohooMan and The Couture Club.
Elmokhtar was spotted for the competition after he appeared on ITV2s dating show ‘Dress to Impress.’
Speaking to the UlsterHerald, Elmokhtar said, “I got involved in the competition after I appeared on a dating show on ITV2 and they saw my portfolio and choose me to take part from tens of thousands of applicants.
“I was really overwhelmed but delighted to be picked.
“When I was young, I wasn’t really confident in myself but when I moved away, it boosted my confidence and since then, my career has been going really well.
“There isn’t too many big models from Northern Ireland so I am just trying to get my name out there,” said Elmokhtar.
This is the model’s first modelling competition, but he is excited for the challenge.
If successful, he stands to win a top of prize of £1500, a modelling and promotional contract and a photo-shoot in Marbella, Spain.
He continued, “It is a big competition and I am really looking forward to it.
“If I win the competition, there will be a lot of opportunities for my career so it is an exciting time.
“Coming from Omagh to represent Liverpool, it is a great opportunity for me,” said Elmokhtar.
