A SIXMILECROSS man left paralysed from the chest down following a fall at home has launched a deeply personal fundraising challenge – to write a message of gratitude to Air Ambulance Northern Ireland, one painstaking letter at a time.
Leonard Mullin’s life changed dramatically in June 2022 when he fell down the stairs at his home, leaving him with profound spinal injuries. Thanks to the swift response and critical care provided by the Air Ambulance team, he survived – but the accident left him a quadriplegic.
“It was on that day that Air Ambulance Northern Ireland came to my rescue,” Leonard said.
“They saved my life. But I’m paralysed from the chest down and have very limited use of my limbs. Even something as simple as holding a fork is incredibly challenging.”
