Police investigate assault incident at public park in Omagh

A CONCERNED parent has taken to social media to alert the public to ‘dangers’ at Grange Park in Omagh following an alleged incident involving their daughter.

According to the parent’s post, their daughter’s friend was grabbed around the throat by a ‘drunk man’ on Monday evening, who then attempted to pull their daughter into the toilets.

She said that when two passersby intervened, the man attacked them before being apprehended by the police.

After enquiries by the UlsterHerald, a PSNI spokesperson confirmed that a man had been arrested.

However, the police statement made no reference to allegations that the man had physically assaulted two girls.

They said, “Police received a report of an assault in the Mountjoy Road area of Omagh on Monday evening, April 29.

“At around 8.20pm, it was reported that a woman – who had stopped to enquire if two girls were being harassed by a man in the area – had been pushed.

“Officers are making enquiries around this and anyone with information or who witnessed the reported assault is asked to contact police on 101 or submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/

“You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at http://crimestoppers-uk.org/”
