Police probe alleged assault

AN Omagh bar has suspended a member of staff after a video of an alleged assault outside its premises was shared on social media.

Sallys of Omagh confirmed that it is ‘investigating’ the video and is treating the incident ‘most seriously’.

They stated, “The management of Sallys are currently investigating a video which is circulating on social media. As a result, a member of our security team has been suspended pending further detailed investigation.

“We treat most seriously the report of any such incident and we condemn absolutely any type of behaviour which impacts on the safety of our patrons.”

Police said they responded to a report of an assault in the John Street area of Omagh shortly after 3.15am on Sunday morning.

One man in his 20s was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said, “Enquiries to establish the circumstances of this incident are ongoing, and police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened, or who may have any information which may assist, to call 101 and quote reference number 301 04/12/22.”
