IT has been an emotional week for co-owners of The Perfect Gift in Coalisland, Breige McHugh and Mary Kelly, as they announced their retirement after 17 years trading in the town.
The Perfect Gift first opened its doors in May 2006, with the two women bringing their love of cards, gifts, candles and jewellery to the people of Coalisland and surrounding areas.
A statement posted on The Perfect Gift’s social media read, “We have achieved a lot over the years with our award-winning window displays and always looking to supply the most unique, exquisite gifts and cards.”
Co-owner Breige told the TyroneHerald, “We just love what we have achieved here but there comes a time when we have to make these decisions.
“Since we opened our doors, there has been so much friendship and we just got on so well with everyone in the community and people would constantly be in and out of the shop for a chat.
“It certainly has been an emotional journey since we announced our retirement sale.
“We have received such great support from everyone and we want to thank all of our customers over the years for their support.”
Breige added, “It would be lovely someone was to come and take over the shop to keep it going.
“All the hard work has been done and the place is in great shape.”
Cllr Malachy Quinn said he was very sad to hear the news. He said, “The Perfect Gift has been a staple of Coalisland for almost 20 years.
“It is without a doubt a unique shop, something you won’t find in every town and something that will be hard to replace.
“I want to wish Mary and Breige all the best for the future.”
