SINN Fein President, Mary Lou McDonald, will be the keynote speaker at the Tyrone Easter Commemoration which this year takes place at the Garden of Remembrance in Carrickmore.
The party leader and leader of the opposition in the Dail, will be making her latest visit to the county for the event on Easter Sunday at 3.30pm.
The annual parade begins at Main Street, before proceeding to the Garden of Remembrance.
Meanwhile, speaking at the launch of this year’s local Easter commemorations, West Tyrone MP Órfhlaith Begley said a united Ireland would deliver a ‘modern, inclusive and fair’ society.
“Irish Republicans in 2025 are as determined as ever to realise the vision of the 1916 Proclamation – an independent, united Ireland, a real republic built on the foundation stones of equality and social justice for all.
As well as the main commemoration in Carrickmore, over 40 local ceremonies will take place in Tyrone over the Easter weekend.
Ms Begley added: “I call upon Republicans to make a special effort to attend your local commemoration and the main Tyrone County Commemoration in Carrickmore this Easter Sunday and to proudly wear the Easter Lily in memory of our patriot dead.”
