Strabane singer who has covid urges against complacency

A Strabane musician who has tested positive for Covid-19 has urged people not to become complacent.
Ryan Dolan (35) from Strabane tested positive for Covid-19 last week.
The well known singer who represented Ireland in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with “Only Love Survives” got tested because he was in contact with someone who tested positive.
At the time of getting tested, he no clear symptoms but has since developed a cough.
Speaking to the Tyrone Herald Ryan said, “I am feeling not to bad at the moment.
“I have a slight cough and bit of a sore head but that’s really It now.
“At its worst I had quite a sore head and cough and just mild flu like symptoms.
“I have been very careful throughout this pandemic, especially to ensure my parents and the elderly and vulnerable members of my family or this community were not put at risk.
“I’m glad I got tested, because I then isolated and that will help in preventing the spread of this virus in our community. “There is no cure and this transmits so easily,” said Ryan.
Ryan believes that there should not be a stigma attached to someone testing positive to coronavirus.
Ryan continued, “Covid-19 is here, the virus hasn’t gone away and it has affected every aspect of our lives.
“People are finding it hard, but we all must ensure we don’t drop our guard, we need to follow the advice and guidance to ensure people are safe.
“The virus will affect people in different ways.
“We need to ensure we keep the elderly and vulnerable safe from this.
“Please don’t be complacent.
“People have died, people have lost parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, wives, husbands and children to this awful virus.
“We cannot take any chances.”
In recent days, the strabane area has seen a surge in Covid-19 cases with numerous businesses impacted.
Ryan said the key is to act fast to prevent spreading the virus.
He continued, “There has been a clear surge in local cases, this has led to the closure of many local businesses and huge demand for tests.
“I would ask people to get tested if they come into contact with anyone who may be positive or if they show symptoms.
“Strabane is a close community and our people are finding it hard, but, we must all make the right decisions in order to protect each other,” concluded Ryan.
