Teen gets her beloved tractor ‘tricked-out’

WHEN Omagh teenager Tia Patterson-Nugent got her 1975 Leyland tractor as a Christmas present it was a “pure rust bucket” – so she jumped at the chance to have it ‘tricked-out’ on a BBC show.

The 15-year-old has appeared on ‘Tricked-Out Tractors’, a popular show in which a team of experts take on the task of restoring the prized machines to their former glory.

Tia brought her tractor, named Dilly Dilly (pictured below), to the experts and they transformed it from a rusted machine into every rural girl’s dream. She told the UH where her new found love of tractors came from.

“It started when we went into lockdown. I took a real love for the outdoors and became a lover of tractors. I really wanted one for Christmas.”

Tia found out on Instagram that producers for the programme were on the lookout for tractors in need of some TLC to appear on the second series and Dilly Dilly beat around 1,700 entries to get the makeover.

“Before we went on the show, Dilly Dilly was looking very rough – just a pure rust bucket. I love the results, it really stands out and it’s just all me,” Tia said.

The tractor has shed its former rusted look and now features a bold blue and green paint scheme with a pink steering wheel and grill with LED lights around the cab.

Lee said, “It was a great experience for her to get on to the show and she got what she wanted out of it. Her tractor definitely stands out compared to any other machines about the place.”
