Vaccine passports no longer needed for most venues from today

REQUIREMENTS for vaccine passports at hospitality venues have been lifted today as part of the easing of Covid restrictions.

Nightclubs and indoor standing events- which were forced to close on Boxing Day- are allowed to reopen today but Covid certification will be required in these settings.

The changes took effect at midday in what will be a relief for venue owners across the county.

Ministers are strongly advising hospitality venues to continue with the Covid certification scheme, but this is guidance only.

A Dungannon restaurateur told WeAreTyrone last week that the rules being lifted were a “massive relief”.

Sheelagh McGeary, manager of Ellie’s restaurant, said, ““It’s a massive relief that they have been lifted because they have really crippled the business and our footfall has been cut into half.”
