Curry’s looking forward to getting a tune out of Harps kids

EAMON Curry is looking forward to guiding the next generation of Finn Harps first team players on their way through the ranks after taking on the under-15 head coach role at the County Donegal club’s Academy.

 

The Strabane man is hoping to develop players who will not only filter through the under-17s, into Tommy Cannings under-19s and into the first team, as well as finding those who can make a career in England or Scotland.

 

The UEFA A licence holder guided Strabane Atheltic to the NI Intermediate League title for the first time in their history, has managed the Tyrone Milk Cup premier squad, coached at Maiden City, is goalkeeping coach for the Northern Ireland schoolboys squad and works full time at the Larne FC academy.

 

In Ballybofey, Curry will be assisted by a backroom team of Shane Bradley, Lee White and Paddy McDaid, and he couldn’t be more pleased by that trio’s qualities.

 

“I have a fantastic backroom staff, I’m absolutely delighted and spoilt,” he beamed.

 

“Lee, I’ve worked with before at Strabane Athletic and you have Paddy McDaid, who has played for Finn Harps as a right winger, so he has experience of that level. 

 

“He’s a qualified teacher, a lovely man, great manners and it’s all about the players. Being a teacher, his communication skills are excellent and you have Shane Bradley, who has played nearly 300 games for the club and is a bit of a legend down there and he’s so well mannered, so modest and humble. 

 

“He wants to learn and he and Patrick bring that connection to the club and that experience of what it takes to cut it at that level.”
