Derg begin search for new boss after Sproule steps down

DERGVIEW Football Club have this morning begun the search for a new manager following the departure of manager Ivan Sproule.

Sproule, who a matter of days ago guided the club to the quarter-finals of the Irish Cup, resigned last night (Wednesday), citing “personal and family commitments” as the reason for calling it a day.

In confirming Sproule’s resignation  club chairman Roy Lecky said, “We would like to thank Ivan for his services and everything that he has done for the club over the past number of seasons.

“During his time at the club he managed with energy, commitment, enthusiasm and passion and motivated and inspired those around him to raise the bar both individually and collectively as a team.

“We respect Ivan’s decision to step down owing to personal and family commitments and we wish him and his family all the best for the future. While Ivan is stepping away from the job of first team manager he remains committed to the club.

“But now the search begins for a new manager and while we will be keen to find a replacement we will take our time and consider all our options in finding the right person for the job.”

Sproule was appointed Dergview manager in October 2018 following the departure of Peter Allen.

During his time in charge the club was generally concerned with matters in the bottom half of the NIFL Championship although there were a number of highlights including the recent Irish Cup run.
