Dergview continue to deliver food parcels

MEMBERS of Dergview Football Club are continuing to pack and deliver food parcels to those that are vulnerable or isolated in the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week first team manager Ivan Sproule and club chairman Roy Lecky both joined committee members as they completed their latest round of deliveries.

There has been a positive community response to the current service and club members will again been busy this week as they prepare the latest parcels for dispatch.

A club spokesman stressed that the distribution of free food parcels was available to everyone with the community and not just the elderly.

“We want to make that abundantly clear,” said the spokesman.

“People with young families are just as likely to be facing hardship in what are very challenging times for everyone within the community.

“These parcels are particularly aimed at  those people who are not in receipt of the weekly government food parcel.

“If anyone is in need please do not hesitate to call us. We are all in this together and club volunteers are only too happy to do what they can to help.”

The following message has been posted on the club’s Facebook.

It states,“If you, or someone within your family/locality would like to avail of this assistance please private message our page giving your name, address, postcode and telephone number.

If you are doing this on behalf of a friend/neighbour please make sure you have their consent to do so.”
