DERGVIEW recorded their third league win of the season with hard fought but richly deserved victory over Queens University this afternoon.

Second half goals by Benny Igiehon, Jamie Browne and Dale Maxwell secured the points with Marc McKenna replying for the students.

The Castlederg outfit dominated from the start but the game remained scoreless at the interval after Browne, Igiehon, Keelan Diver and Matty Kirk all squandered chances.

But the hosts maintained their composure and in the second period the goals duly arrived.

Substitute Lee McLaughlin stood up a cross for Igiehon to break the deadlock with header just before the hour mark and eight minutes later Browne pounced on a loose pass to round visiting keeper Daniel Devine.

The students pulled a goal back shortly afterwards with McKenna converting from the spot after McLaughlin was adjudged to have fouled Ronan Young in the box.

But that’s as good as it got for the visitors. With 15 minutes remaining Kirk picked out Maxwell whose downward header back across goal beat the diving Devine.
