DONAGHMORE joint-manager Ryan Falls isn’t getting carried away with the three in-a-row talk ahead of Sunday’s Tyrone Minor Championship final against Cookstown.
The club has enjoyed a period of rich success in recent years and they’re one step away from >w 8.12pt<maintaining their stranglehold on the Tyrone Minor Championship title, booking their spot in the decider with last weekend’s semi-final win over Trillick
Falls, who manages the team with Damien McCaul, is mindful that they don’t take their eye off the ball, especially after what’s been a demanding season for many of their players across club, county, schools and colleges football.
“We have boys playing senior, county minor and U20, schools and universities football. It’s demanding and we’ve had to try to bring them back together again.
“When you’re still out playing in the third week in February, it’s always going to be tough.
“It’d be great to land the three in-a-row but we can’t look past Cookstown.
We have to get our match-ups right, we have to do the right things and they’re going to be a big hurdle to get over.”>w 8.12pt<
Donaghmore qualified for the final with a 0-14 to 0-6 victory over Trillick, a win backboned by familiar underage talents like Noah Grimes, Conor O’Neill, Ronan Molloy and Conor O’Neill.
They’re set to take on a Cookstown side who accounted for Eglish in a thrilling encounter that ended up 3-12 to 3-10 at the final whistle with Lorcan McMurray top-scoring with 1-5 to his name.
Cookstown have some fine players in their own right like McCurry, Michael McElhatton and Keegan Hampsey so it’s got all the makings of a fine contest this Sunday.
Falls said: “They beat us in the league in Cookstown, and they were fairly deserving of it, so it’s not going to be easy.
“They have good players, they’re solid, and it’s going to take a big effort to get there.”
