GORTIN’S Eilish Flanagan will represent Ireland at this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The Carmen Runners AC member sealed her place in Japan after running the 3,000 metres steeplechase in a sensational time of 9:42.71 minutes in Lucerne, Switzerland.
That was her second fastest time ever over the distance, having set a new PB at the Oregon Twilight Meet in America before winning the NCAA Division II National Championships. She also finished second at the Irish Championships at the weekend, coming home just behind Michelle Finn, who will also compete in the steeplechase in Tokyo.
