Errigal cuise to facile victory over Pomeroy

ERRIGAL Ciaran scored practically at their leisure as they recorded a 1-20 to 0-10 victory over Pomeroy at Carrickmore this evening.

The 2017 and 2019 finalists now play Dromore in the quarter-finals, which is likely to be a much stiffer test of their championship ambitions as they overcame Pomeroy with barely so much as a scratch.

Joe Oguz suffered an injury earlier in the week to add to their concerns going into the match, but they wasted no time in racking up the points as they ran up a 1-11 to 0-3 lead by the half-time whistle.

Pomeroy’s woes were compounded as Brendan Burns was sent off on the cusp of half-time, and they never threatened a comeback at any stage.

Errigal had fine performances all over the park, but perhaps none moreso than Odhran Robinson, who scored 1-4 from play. He’s been a revelation in the last month or two, while Peter Harte, Padraig McGirr and Cathal Corrigan also scored multiple times. Pomeroy to their credit battled to the final whistle, and Kieran McGeary scored eight frees but there was never any doubt about the final outcome.
