F&W official to take charge of Irish Cup Final

A FERMANAGH and Western referee is to take charge of this season’s Sadler’s Peaky Blinders Irish Cup Final.

Irvinestown whistler Tim Marshall will fulfil a lifelong ambition after getting the nod to officiate in the showpiece decider which takes place at the National Stadium on Friday, July 31.

Mr Marshall has been officiating at senior level since 2011, having first taken up refereeing 10 years earlier. The Irish Cup Final will be his second major showpiece final having taken charge of the BetMcLean League Cup Final in 2017 when Dungannon Swifts defeated Ballymena United 3-1 at the Windsor Park venue.

Meanwhile a fellow Fermanagh and Western official, Richard Storey has applied to make the switch from the IFA to the FAI and will no longer officiate in the Danske Bank Premiership next season.

The Ulster Herald also understands that another high-profile Fermanagh and Western official is considering a similar switch.
