THE first ever man to score for Tyrone at a match in Croke Park, Tom Sullivan, has passed away, having left a rich legacy for club and county alike.
Sullivan entered the history books in the 1947 All-Ireland Minor final when he scored Tyrone’s first point of the day en route to a 4-4 to 4-3 win over Mayo at Croke Park, securing the county’s first ever national title.
Tom made a seismic contribution on the day, scoring two of Tyrone’s goals, while the team was captained by another Coalisland man, Eddie Devlin, who died last August aged 92.
His club Coalisland Na Fianna have paid tribute to their fallen stalwart, highlighting his achievements on and off the field of play.
