Tommy Nethery this week caught up with Shirley McCay who reflects on her long career playing hockey with Ireland (316 caps), the World Cup 2018 and the Olympics.
The Drumquin woman also talks about the tough times.
She said, “One of the things that I’m really proud of is that when times were really low, when there was very little funding, were we were almost paying our own way at times. I was there through that, through thick and thin, and these are the moments that created the person I am today and the character that is within me.”
