Injured Dylan staying upbeat

DYLAN King is adopting a positive approach to the news that he has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2020-21 season because of injury.

Dungannon Swifts last week confirmed that the big defender had torn an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during a Danske Bank Premiership game against Linfield just before Christmas.

A subsequent scan of the knee revealed the extent of the damage and later this month the 22-year-old Artigarvan man has an appointment with his consultant in Dublin to schedule surgery.

The upshot is that the strapping centre-back will be out for six to nine months if not longer, however he is remarkably upbeat and positive about his impending time on the sidelines.

“Admittedly it took a while to get my head around it but now that I have I’m going to approach it with a positive mindset and as an opportunity,” he said.

“I’m going to strip everything right back and rebuild again by putting in the hours in the gym. I’m determined to come back stronger and fitter to try and prevent this type of injury recurring. To be honest that’s probably something that I have been gulity of letting slip a bit – the gym work. Now is an opportunity to put that right.”
